The Blue Revolution have been crowned MERIT 2011 champions.

MERIT 2011 was the 21st MERIT competition. The final of MERIT 2011 took place at Loughborough University on 11th and 12th April.

The six teams that qualified for the 21st MERIT are listed below, the scores at the start of the final show this to be a close competition with only 15% separating the top and bottom teams:

The winners were The Blue Revolution from Costain, this was the first time a Costain team had reached the final.

Hugh Ferguson from the Institution of Civil Engineers presents the Silver Salver to the MERIT 2011 Champions. Blue Revolution were represented by Jonathon Han, Duncan James, Adam Xu and George Chou.

The MERIT 2011 runners up were Game Ove from Ove Arup and Partners Ltd represented by Ajminder Dhani, Nathan Hubbard, Louis Walley, Andrew Clarke and Areeb Khan

 

The Sponsors' Award

For sponsors that enter three or more teams there is the Sponsors' Award competition. The award is given to the company that has the best performing group of three teams. The MERIT 2011 winner of the Sponsors' Award were Ove Arup and Partners Ltd. This was the first time Ove Arup had won the Sponsors' Award, they did win the main competition in 1996. In total todate Ove Arup have , over the years, entered a total of 100 teams.

Nigel Hailey of Ove Arup receives the MERIT 2011 Sponsors' Award from Charly Clark, Chairman of the Institution's Management Board and Paul Gaze of CITB Construction Skills. Nigel is a graduate from MERIT having played it as part of his own development.
